Working out for weight loss moral?

I've had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically we eat food to have energy to do the things that we need to do to survive right?

Sadly, nearly 800,000,000 people in the world do not get enough food to lead a healthy active life. That is, I believe, a nice way to say starving.

These people are obviously very poor, real poor. Can't afford food poor.

Now, lets think about what working out is. It is a way for people to stay in shape, or lose weight right? That amounts to wasting calories. Life sustaining calories that are being wasted while people in the world are starving.

I recently saw this report, which is admittedly a bit dated, average american is 17 lbs bigger than their ideal weight. Now, apparently there are 3,500 calories in a pound of body fat.

Ok, so bear with me through some super easy math.

17 * 3,500 = 59,500 calories.

But how many calories does a person need to live? Men are suggested to eat 2,500 calories a day, women 2,000.

Just back of the napkin shit here, lets say the average person then needs 2,250 fair?

more napkin stuff:

59,500 / 2,250 = 23.6 Days worth of calories in average the American's unwanted body fat.

That is to say, the amount of weight that the average American is carrying around ( and would like to lose) has enough caloric energy to feed a person for more than 3 weeks.

Taking that a step further, there are around 320,000,000 people living in America.

320,000,000 x 23.6 days worth of stored caloric energy in excess body fat = 7,552,000,000 calorie-days floating around unwanted.

that is 20,690,411 years worth of calories.

So more calorie-years than years that we've been a species.

Ok so that's cool or sad or whatever. But lets get back to the starving people. And working out in the west.

I'm not saying any Soylent Green or Modest Proposal ass shit.

I've never flip-flopped on my anti-cannibalism views.

So there are how many starving-ish people? 795 Million right? Which means that the extra calories held in American bellies could feed all of them for nearly 9 and a half days.

instead of working out and BURNING calories, that they instead just eat less.

Of course the supply chain that would be involved in a cannibalistic liposuction things make that macabre solution infeasible, though potentially a win-win.

What I suggest instead, is that people looking to lose weight in America and the West, instead of working out and BURNING calories, that they instead just eat less.

Why? Well if we are all start eating less and living a bit off of our own body fat, then food prices will come down, and we'll get svelte.

supply and demand from orange is the new black

That will make it so that we lose weight, and food becomes a little bit less pricey for the worlds poor. Win win and no cannibalism. Though now as always there are no rules when you are in a plane crash in the Andes.

So, lets eat less to lose weight and help to bring down the demand and therefore the price of food globally yeah? Sure it wouldn't be an over night price drop, but c'mon right?
